Permira

Founded in 1985 as Schroder Ventures, the firm began as a concept for private equity funds to finance management buyouts within J. Henry Schroder Wagg. In 1996, the staff from various European offices formed an independent company known as Schroder Ventures Europe, which was subsequently rebranded as Permira in 2001 to reflect its complete separation from its predecessor. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest private equity firms in the UK and Europe, expanding its footprint with offices in New York, Hong Kong, and previously Tokyo.

The firm targets companies with proven growth prospects and aims to enhance business value through mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, and organic growth. Permira operates as a partnership owned by its senior management and manages a variety of buyout, growth equity, and credit funds. Its recent activity includes closing the flagship Permira VIII buyout fund with 16.7 billion euros in capital commitments and successfully closing a multi-billion dollar growth opportunities fund. Permira has invested in more than 300 companies worldwide since its inception.
