Methodology

PE Firm Index is a public-information directory and research hub mapping private equity firms, portfolio companies, sectors, operators, and market signals across the private capital ecosystem.

Information is aggregated from publicly available firm websites, portfolio pages, press releases, news articles, public company filings, careers pages, and reference sources such as Wikipedia/Wikidata. Each profile field is designed to support source attribution.

We do not scrape paywalled databases or proprietary subscription sources, and we do not copy proprietary rankings, datasets, or database structures. Where possible, we summarize rather than reproduce third-party text.

Material changes to firm or company profiles are reviewed by our editorial team before publication. Automated enrichment, where used, is saved as a draft for review rather than published directly.

We use labels rather than numeric rankings to indicate the strength of the underlying public information.

Firms and operators can submit updates, corrections, and additions via the Submit Update page. Submissions are reviewed and may require public sources for verification.

Private capital is, by definition, less transparent than public markets. Many firms publish limited information about portfolio composition, exits, and operating teams. PE Firm Index reflects what is publicly available and is not exhaustive.
