Founded in 2001 by Dick Cashin, One Equity Partners (OEP) began as the private equity investment arm of Bank One. Following JPMorgan Chase's acquisition of Bank One in 2004, the firm became the exclusive private equity platform for JPMorgan Chase after its larger predecessor, JPMorgan Partners, spun off as CCMP Capital.
The firm focuses on middle-market companies, primarily utilizing leveraged buyout and growth capital strategies. Historically, OEP has managed significant transactions in the industrial, healthcare, and technology sectors across North America and Europe. In 2014, JPMorgan Chase announced it would sell a portion of its stake in the firm as OEP transitioned toward independence.
Throughout its history, OEP has completed high-profile deals including the $4.3 billion buyout of Travelport and the successful turnaround and sale of Polaroid Corporation. More recently, the firm has expanded its footprint in the technology and specialized manufacturing industries through acquisitions like Ericsson Media Solutions and Montanhydraulik GmbH.
