One Equity Partners

One Equity Partners (OEP) was founded in 2001 by Dick Cashin to serve as the private equity investment arm of Bank One. Following JPMorgan Chase's acquisition of Bank One in 2004, OEP became the exclusive private equity platform for the combined firm, eventually absorbing other units like Bear Stearns Merchant Banking. In 2014, JPMorgan Chase announced it would sell a significant portion of its stake in the firm as OEP transitioned toward independence.

The firm specializes in middle-market investments, primarily through leveraged buyouts and growth capital infusions. OEP maintains a global presence with offices in New York, Chicago, São Paulo, Vienna, Hong Kong, and Frankfurt. Its investment strategy frequently involves complex carve-outs and industrial transformations across North America and Europe.

Notable activities include the $4.3 billion buyout of Travelport in 2006 alongside Blackstone and TCV, and a highly successful investment in Polaroid Corporation. More recently, the firm has been active in the technology and industrial sectors, acquiring Ericsson Media Solutions in 2018 and signing an agreement to acquire the German manufacturer Montanhydraulik GmbH in late 2025.
