CapitalG Management Company LLC, formerly known as Google Capital, was founded in 2013 as the independent growth equity investment arm of Alphabet Inc. Unlike Google's Corporate Development group which focuses on strategic acquisitions, CapitalG operates with a mandate for financial return. The firm is headquartered in the Ferry Building in San Francisco and rebranded from Google Capital to CapitalG in 2016 following the Alphabet corporate restructuring.

The firm focuses on growth-stage technology companies across various sectors including finance, healthcare, and software. A key component of their strategy is providing portfolio companies with access to Google's internal expertise, utilizing a network of over 50 advisors from senior positions within Google to assist with data science, engineering, and marketing.
