An American multinational private equity firm and one of the oldest in the world, specialized in growth investing.

Warburg Pincus LLC was formed in 1966 through the merger of E.M. Warburg & Co. (founded by Eric Warburg in 1939) and Lionel I. Pincus & Co. Under the leadership of Lionel Pincus and John Vogelstein, the firm shifted from a small office to a global private equity powerhouse, developing a strategy of investing in diversified companies across various stages of growth rather than focusing strictly on start-ups. The firm has raised 22 private equity funds and invested over $130 billion in more than 1,100 companies globally.

The firm is known for its "growth investor" approach and has a significant historical presence in venture capital, being a founding member of venture capital associations in both the U.S. and China. It operates as a global partnership and has expanded its footprint extensively in Asia and Europe since the 1980s and 90s. As of the mid-2020s, it remains one of the largest private equity firms globally, consistently ranking in the top tier of the PEI 300. Its portfolio activity is characterized by a high volume of initial public offerings, with over 190 completed across two dozen exchanges.
