CVC Capital Partners was established in 1981, originally as Citicorp Venture Capital. In 1993, the senior investment team negotiated a successful spinoff from Citibank to become an independent entity. Since its independence, the firm has transitioned from venture capital to focusing on large-scale leveraged buyouts and investments in mature businesses across the globe.
The firm is recognized for raising some of the largest private equity funds in history, including a record-breaking 26 billion Euro buyout fund in 2023. CVC operates a broad network of 25 offices and maintains a significant presence in the sports, retail, and financial services sectors. In April 2024, the firm became a public company, listing its shares on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange.
CVC manages diverse investment platforms including private equity, secondaries, credit, and infrastructure. Its portfolio consists of over 100 companies worldwide, which collectively employ hundreds of thousands of people. The firm continues to expand its reach through major acquisitions in the Asia-Pacific region and the credit management space.
