Founded in 1986 as Baring Capital Investors by Otto van der Wyck, BC Partners originally advised funds for management buyouts under the Barings umbrella. Following the collapse of Barings in 1995, the firm's principals completed a spin-out to become the independent entity known today as BC Partners. Over its history, the firm has grown into one of the largest European private equity players, completing over 100 investments with a total enterprise value exceeding 145 billion euros.

The firm operates with a diverse investment mandate, managing over $40 billion in assets across private equity, credit, and real estate strategies.
