Bain Capital

Founded in 1984 by partners from the consulting firm Bain & Company, Bain Capital was established to apply consulting techniques to private equity investing to improve company operations. Initially focused on venture capital, the firm famously backed startups like Staples before shifting its strategy toward leveraged buyouts and growth capital investments in more mature companies.

The firm has grown into one of the world's largest alternative investment managers, ranking 13th globally in the PEI 300 as of 2023. It operates a diverse platform that includes private equity, credit, public equity, and venture capital. Throughout its history, the firm has been involved in hundreds of acquisitions, maintaining a global presence with over 20 offices across four continents.

Bain Capital became a subject of significant public and media scrutiny due to the political career of its co-founder, Mitt Romney. Despite this, the firm has continued to expand its assets under management and diversify its investment strategies, covering sectors ranging from healthcare and technology to consumer retail and industrial products.
