PAI Partners is a French private equity firm based in Paris and one of the oldest firms in the sector, tracing its origins to the investment arm of Paribas.

PAI Partners is a major French private equity firm with roots dating back to Paribas Affaires Industrielles, which was the principal investment arm of Paribas starting in 1872. The firm was formally established as a third-party investment manager in 1998 with the launch of the PAI LBO Fund and completed a full spinout from BNP Paribas in 2000. Under various leadership phases, the firm has evolved from a bank-owned subsidiary into a leading independent European buyout specialist.

The firm focuses on leveraged buyout (LBO) transactions across Europe and North America, typically targeting large-scale industrial and consumer companies. Since 1994, it has completed over 65 LBO transactions representing more than €48 billion in total transaction value. Notable recent activity includes its largest ever investment in 2021, the $3.3 billion acquisition of Tropicana and other juice brands from PepsiCo, and the closing of its eighth fund (PAI Partners VIII) at €7.1 billion in 2023.
