EQT AB was founded in 1994 by SEB, AEA Investors, and Investor AB, with the Wallenberg family maintaining a significant ownership stake. The firm has grown into one of the world's largest private equity organizations, completing a public listing on the Nasdaq Stockholm in 2019. It operates through several specialized divisions including EQT Infrastructure, EQT Private Capital, and EQT Real Estate.
The firm has significantly expanded its global footprint through major acquisitions, most notably the 2022 merger with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA), which established a massive presence in the Asian markets.
