Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) was a prominent Asian investment firm that operated as an independent entity before being acquired by EQT AB in 2022.

Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) was established in 1997 as a subsidiary of Baring Private Equity Partners, an affiliate of the historic Barings Bank. Following the collapse of Barings Bank and the Asian financial crisis, Jean Salata led a management buyout in 2000, establishing BPEA as an independent firm. The firm quickly grew into one of the largest private investment houses in Asia, raising a series of flagship private equity funds that culminated in an $11.2 billion eighth fund in 2022.

The firm's investment platform expanded beyond traditional private equity to include dedicated strategies for real estate and private credit, with a specific focus on the Indian credit market. BPEA became known for large-scale cross-border transactions and regional buyouts, maintaining a significant presence across the Asia-Pacific region with its headquarters in Hong Kong.

In March 2022, Swedish investment firm EQT AB announced the acquisition of BPEA for $7.5 billion. The transaction was finalized in October 2022, at which point the firm was integrated into EQT's operations. The combined entity was initially rebranded as BPEA EQT and later transitioned to the name EQT Private Capital Asia in early 2024, serving as EQT's primary investment platform in Asia.
