Charlesbank Capital Partners

Charlesbank Capital Partners was formed by the founders of the Harvard Private Capital Group, which managed the private equity investment portfolio for the Harvard University endowment. In 1998, the team transitioned from the endowment to launch Charlesbank as an independent firm. The firm expanded its capabilities by establishing a credit investment strategy in 2016 and a technology opportunities strategy in 2019.

The firm specializes in the middle market and operates through three complementary investment strategies: flagship middle market private equity, lower middle market technology private equity, and middle market opportunistic credit. It maintains offices in both Boston and New York City and has grown to manage over $23 billion in total assets.

Charlesbank focuses on sector-specific expertise in Business and Consumer Services, Healthcare, Industrial, and Technology and Technology Infrastructure. Notable recent fund activities include the closing of its Flagship Private Equity Fund X at $4.1 billion in 2021 and its Technology Opportunities Fund II at $1.275 billion in 2024.
