Charlesbank Capital Partners was established in 1998 when its founders, who previously operated as the Harvard Private Capital Group, left the Harvard University endowment to form an independent firm. Based in Boston and New York, the firm has built a legacy of managing private equity investments for institutional investors, beginning with the Harvard endowment portfolio.

The firm focuses on middle-market opportunities through three primary investment strategies: flagship middle-market private equity, lower middle-market technology private equity, and middle-market opportunistic credit. Over the years, Charlesbank has expanded its capabilities, launching its credit strategy in 2016 and a dedicated technology opportunities strategy in 2019.

Since its inception, the firm has developed deep expertise in several core sectors, including business and consumer services, healthcare, industrial, and technology infrastructure.
