CCMP Capital
MediumFirm Overview
CCMP Capital is an American private equity firm specializing in leveraged buyout and growth capital transactions.
Founded in 1984 as Chemical Venture Partners, the firm served as the private equity arm of Chemical Bank. Through a series of bank mergers involving Chase Manhattan and J.P. Morgan & Co., the group evolved into JP Morgan Partners. In 2006, the investment professionals spun out from JPMorgan Chase to form CCMP Capital, an independent firm named as an acronym for its predecessor entities: Chemical, Chase, and MP (J.P. Morgan Partners).
The firm historically focused on a broad range of deal types including venture capital, though its venture team eventually branched off to form Panorama Capital. Other regional spinouts include Unitas Capital in Asia and Linzor Capital in Latin America. CCMP has invested approximately $12 billion since its inception and was once ranked among the world's largest private equity funds.
CCMP currently focuses on mid-to-large market buyouts and growth equity investments. The firm has managed several multi-billion dollar funds, including CCMP Capital Investors II, which closed with $3.4 billion in commitments. Its activity spans across North America and Europe, with former autonomous operations in Asia.
