Ridgemont Equity Partners

Ridgemont Equity Partners was formed in 2010 following a spinout from Bank of America. The team previously operated as BAML Capital Partners, which was a unit created from the 2009 merger of Bank of America Capital Investors (founded in 1993) and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity (founded in 1996). While the Merrill Lynch unit historically focused on large-scale leveraged buyouts, the integrated BAML team shifted focus toward the middle market.

The firm focuses on middle-market companies in the United States, targeting equity investments of up to $250 million. Since its inception through its various predecessor entities, the team has invested over $4.4 billion of equity capital. Ridgemont maintains a sector-focused strategy, primarily targeting basic industrials, energy, healthcare, and technology sectors.

One of the firm's predecessor units, Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, was a prominent player during the mid-2000s buyout boom, participating in several landmark transactions. Today, Ridgemont continues to operate as an independent firm from its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, managing approximately $5 billion in assets.
