Lloyds Development Capital
MediumFirm Overview
Lloyds Development Capital (LDC) is a major UK-based mid-market private equity firm and a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group.
Lloyds Development Capital (LDC) was established in 1981 as the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group. Based in London, it focuses on providing capital to mid-market companies. Throughout its history, the firm has undergone name changes, including a period from 1999 to 2011 when it operated as Lloyds TSB Development Capital Limited.
The firm reached significant milestones in its investment history, exceeding 30 million pounds in annual investment for the first time in 1991 and completing its 300th investment by 2001. By 2007, its annual investment activity had grown to over 300 million pounds, marking its 400th completed investment.
LDC operates primarily through several UK-based subsidiaries that act as fund managers, general partners, and trustees for its venture capital activities. While it previously maintained an international presence with LDC (Asia) Limited in Hong Kong, that entity was liquidated in 2015, refocusing the firm's operations on the United Kingdom market. The firm is also known for supporting regional business awards, such as the Evening Standard Business Awards.
