Lloyds Development Capital (LDC) is a prominent UK-based mid-market private equity firm and a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group.
Established in 1981 as Lloyds Development Capital Limited, the firm has grown into a major mid-market private equity house in the United Kingdom. Between 1999 and 2011, the firm operated under the name Lloyds TSB Development Capital Limited before reverting to its current branding. As a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group, it operates through several UK-based specialized entities including LDC (Managers) Limited and LDC (General Partner) Limited.
The firm's historical activity shows significant growth in its investment scale over the decades. In 1991, its annual investment exceeded £30 million for the first time, and by 2007, this figure grew to over £300 million. By 2001, the firm had completed its 300th investment, reaching its 400th by 2007. While it previously maintained an international presence through LDC (Asia) Limited in Hong Kong, that subsidiary was liquidated in 2015 as the firm focused its operations on the UK market.
