HPS Investment Partners is an American credit investment firm that focuses on private and public credit, private equity, and real assets.

Founded in 2007 as Highbridge Principal Strategies, the firm was originally the private equity and credit division of Highbridge Capital Management within J.P. Morgan Asset Management. The firm grew significantly following the 2008 financial crisis and eventually underwent a management buyout in 2016 to become an independent entity rebranded as HPS Investment Partners. In 2025, the firm was acquired by BlackRock for $12 billion, becoming a subsidiary within its private credit unit.

HPS specializes in complex, non-investment grade credit opportunities and operates across a broad global platform. The firm is recognized as one of the largest private debt investment companies globally. Its history is marked by a transition from a bank-owned subsidiary to an independent powerhouse, and ultimately to a key component of BlackRock's alternative investment strategy.
