Hamilton Lane

Hamilton Lane was founded in 1991 by Leslie Brun as a private equity advisory firm focused on large public pension plans. Over the following decades, the company significantly expanded its offerings, adding separately managed accounts, fund of funds, and distribution management services through various acquisitions and internal growth. The firm transitioned to a majority employee-owned structure in 2015 after buying back stakes from external investors like Cascade Investment and Credit Agricole.

The company went public on the Nasdaq in March 2017 and has since continued to diversify its platform into real assets, private credit, and evergreen investment strategies. Hamilton Lane is notable for its early adoption of blockchain technology, partnering to tokenize several of its funds to broaden access to private markets. Today, it operates 22 offices globally, serving as both an advisor and a direct investor in private market assets.
