H.I.G. Capital

H.I.G. Capital was founded in 1993 by Sami Mnaymneh and Tony Tamer, former executives at The Blackstone Group and Bain & Company respectively. The firm has grown into a multinational investment powerhouse, expanding its presence with its first European affiliate office in 2006 and subsequently establishing a global footprint across North America, Europe, South America, and Asia.

The firm specializes in middle-market investments, managing a diverse range of asset classes including private equity, growth equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit. Since its inception, H.I.G. has invested in and managed more than 400 companies. Its private equity activities typically focus on management buyouts, recapitalizations, and corporate carve-outs of both profitable and underperforming businesses.

In recent years, H.I.G. has been active in large-scale transactions and restructuring, such as the 2021 acquisition of the restructuring firm Interpath from KPMG, which it later sold to Bridgepoint Group in 2026. The firm also manages WhiteHorse Finance, a publicly traded business development corporation focused on debt financing. In April 2026, the firm underwent a significant leadership transition when Brian Schwartz was named the first non-founder CEO, succeeding Sami Mnaymneh.
