GP Investimentos
MediumFirm Overview
GP Investments is a leading alternative investment firm in Latin America with a strong focus on private equity and asset management.
Founded in 1993, GP Investments was established to focus on the then-nascent private equity market in Latin America. The firm raised its inaugural fund of $500 million in 1994 and has since grown into a prominent regional player. In 2003, Antonio Bonchristiano and Fersen Lambranho assumed leadership, later acquiring full control of the firm in 2004.
In 2006, GP Investments became the first listed private equity company in Latin America following a $308 million initial public offering. This move provided the firm with permanent capital to invest alongside its traditional private equity funds. The firm has expanded its footprint beyond its headquarters in Brazil to include offices in New York, Zurich, and Bermuda.
Beyond its core private equity business, the firm has diversified into other asset classes including real estate and infrastructure. It also operates through its asset management subsidiary, BRZ Investimentos. Notable recent activity includes increasing its stake in retail chains and investing in specialized sectors like mineral aggregates and beauty institutes.
