GP Investimentos
MediumFirm Overview
GP Investments is a leading investment firm in Latin America with a primary focus on private equity and asset management.
Founded in 1993, GP Investments was a pioneer in the Latin American private equity market. The firm initially focused on raising regional investment funds, including a US$500 million fund in 1994 and a US$800 million successor in 1997. In 2003, leadership transitioned to Antonio Bonchristiano and Fersen Lambranho, who eventually acquired 100% control of the firm.
In 2006, GP Investments became the first private equity company in Latin America to go public, completing an IPO of US$308 million and listing its shares on the BM&FBovespa and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. This move provided the firm with permanent capital to invest alongside its managed funds. Over the years, the firm has expanded its footprint beyond private equity into real estate and infrastructure, while maintaining significant operations through its subsidiary BRZ Investimentos. Raising several billion-dollar funds, the firm has solidified its position as a major player in the BRIC and emerging markets landscape.
