UBS Capital
MediumFirm Overview
The private equity and real estate investment arm of UBS Asset Management, providing a range of multi-asset investment capabilities for institutional and private clients.
UBS Capital, currently operating within the Real Estate and Private Markets business of UBS Asset Management, was formed through several major mergers and restructurings. A pivotal moment occurred in 1998 with the merger of Union Bank of Switzerland and Swiss Bank Corporation, which combined the operations of UBS Asset Management, Phillips & Drew, and Brinson Partners. By 2002, these brands were consolidated under the unified UBS Global Asset Management moniker.
The firm offers a variety of investment capabilities including equity, fixed income, currency, hedge funds, global real estate, and infrastructure. In 2017, UBS further integrated its business by combining its Global Real Estate and Infrastructure businesses with its Private Equity operations to form the Real Estate and Private Markets (REPM) area. This division serves a diverse client base ranging from corporate and institutional clients to governments and alternative asset managers.
UBS Asset Management is a leading fund house in Europe and maintains a significant global presence with major offices in financial hubs such as Chicago, London, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore. While the firm has historically maintained a wide range of investment restrictions, it recently shifted policy in 2025 by removing certain restrictions on sustainability funds investing in conventional weapons manufacturers in response to changing geopolitical landscapes in Europe.
