Harbert Management Corporation (HMC) is an American investment management company founded in 1993 by Raymond J. Harbert. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, the firm serves as a successor to the Harbert Corporation, an international construction and energy conglomerate founded by John M. and Bill L. Harbert. In 1998, HMC established the HERO Foundation, a charitable organization providing financial assistance to individuals impacted by natural disasters and medical emergencies.

The firm manages investment funds across seven alternative asset classes, broadly organized into real assets and private capital concentrations. HMC has a history of launching and supporting diverse financial entities, notably serving as the original funder and former majority owner of the hedge fund Harbinger Capital.
