GTCR-backed Dentalcorp snaps up Northstar Dental Partners
Dentalcorp, backed by GTCR, has acquired Northstar Dental Partners. This marks Dentalcorp’s first acquisition in the US. Northstar founder and CEO Dr. Jordan Tomalty will retain an ownership stake.
Dentalcorp, a dental support organization backed by GTCR, has acquired Northstar Dental Partners. Northstar Dental Partners is a group of dental practices based in Boca Raton, Florida. Financial terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed. This acquisition marks Dentalcorp's initial entry into the United States market. The company, headquartered in Toronto, provides support services to a network of over 650 dental practices and facilitates close to 6 million patient visits each year. The founder and CEO of Northstar, Dr. Jordan Tomalty, will maintain an ownership stake in the acquired business. Dentalcorp's CEO and founder, Graham Rosenberg, stated that the company's vision to support dental care teams now extends across North America, highlighting Northstar as an exceptional company and Dr. Tomalty as a partner of the caliber they seek for US expansion. Advisers to Dentalcorp on this transaction included McDermott Will & Schulte LLP for legal counsel, Plante Moran as financial advisor, and Baker Tilly, KPMG, and Marwood for tax, commercial, and regulatory advice, respectively. Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, Goodmans LLP, and Latham & Watkins LLP also provided legal counsel to Dentalcorp on related corporate matters. This move by Dentalcorp into the U.S. market, supported by its private equity backing, indicates a continued trend of consolidation and expansion within the dental support organization sector. It suggests an ongoing interest from private equity firms in scaling healthcare services through strategic acquisitions, particularly in fragmented markets such as dentistry, to achieve broader geographical reach and operational efficiencies.
