Blue Owl AUM reaches $330bn as fundraising supports earnings growth

Blue Owl Capital's assets under management reached a record $330bn in Q3, driven by $12.6bn in new capital commitments and stronger fee-related earnings that beat profit expectations.

Alternative asset manager Blue Owl Capital reached a record $330 billion in assets under management in the third quarter of 2026. Stronger fee-related earnings helped the firm beat profit expectations during the period.

For the three months to September 30, Blue Owl posted adjusted distributable earnings of $0.24 per share, up from $0.22 per share a year earlier and ahead of analyst forecasts of $0.23 per share. Following the release of the results, the firm's shares rose nearly 5% in premarket trading.

Capital formation remained strong during the quarter, with the firm securing $12.6 billion in new capital commitments, bringing its trailing 12-month fundraising total to $48.8 billion. Equity fundraising accounted for $10.2 billion of the quarterly total, including $5.6 billion from credit and $4.0 billion from real assets.

Co-CEOs Doug Ostrover and Marc Lipschultz said institutional fundraising reached a quarterly record, supported by a broader mix of strategies, investors, and geographies. Direct lending originations totalled $5.2 billion during the period, while overall deployment fell by $300 million.

The quarterly results arrived amid continued scrutiny of private credit exposure to technology borrowers and artificial intelligence infrastructure, with Blue Owl’s shares down around 35% this year.
