B Capital-led investor group to acquire Russell Investments

An investor group led by B Capital has agreed to acquire Russell Investments from TA Associates and Reverence Capital. Russell Investments will continue to operate independently under its existing leadership team, led by chairman and CEO Zach Buchwald, and president and chief investment officer Kate El-Hillow. TA and RCP originally partnered with Russell Investments in 2016.

An investor group, primarily led by B Capital, has reached an agreement to acquire Russell Investments, a provider of investment solutions based in Seattle. The transaction involves the acquisition of Russell Investments from its current owners, TA Associates and Reverence Capital. California Public Employees’ Retirement System is also participating in the investor consortium. This change in ownership marks a significant development for the firm.

Upon the finalization of the deal, Russell Investments is slated to maintain its operational independence. The existing leadership team will continue to steer the company, ensuring continuity in its strategic direction and day-to-day management. Zach Buchwald will remain in his role as chairman and CEO, while Kate El-Hillow will continue as president and chief investment officer.

TA Associates and Reverence Capital initially partnered with Russell Investments in 2016. The acquisition signifies a new chapter for Russell Investments, transitioning its ownership structure.
